A Cookery Masterclass

At The Stand People we have a fantastic client base and like to thank our loyal customers with something special now and again. On the 9th of November we did just that when Stand People’s David Busson took 12 clients on a wine and culinary master class at one of the country’s finest boutique hotels; Llanerch Vineyard & the Angela Gray Cookery School.

We had thought about a rugby day out or even cocktail making, but in the end we chose an experience we’d hoped would really engage everyone and create a buzz.

The Angela Gray Cookery School located at the Llanerch Vineyard & Hotel in the Vale of Glamorgan offers guests the chance to learn how to rustle up some fantastic dishes and get to grips with the often-confusing world of wine.

Angela Gray met with the group at 2pm and after a quick briefing on creating the perfect ‘winter Italian feast’ split everyone in to four teams. With a glass of Prosecco in hand, each team was assigned a dish to prepare for the evening’s meal. The wonderful menu included a variety of filled pasta, Focaccia Bread, Marinated Olives and to finish off, Tuscan Almond and Citrus cake with a healthy dollop of Mascarpone!

The kitchen was a hive of activity with the nearly everyone exemplifying cookery skills reminiscent of Jamie or Nigella. Bar a few minor hick ups, a couple of hours later each team had produced and prepared food that was ready to be cooked.

Luckily no kitchen nightmares here

While dinner was being cooked by Angela and her fantastic team, everyone was seated and treated to an insightful wine tasting session with expert sommelier Gilbert Viader. Once the teams were deemed fully capable of distinguishing a complicated bouquet and had sampled some fantastic Italian Wines, it was time to eat.

Needless to say the food did not disappoint and everyone was extremely impressed (and relieved) that they had managed to conjure up such a great feast.

Angela's finest graduates yet

Once dinner was over and everyone had enjoyed second helpings of the wonderful dessert it was time to relax in the Hotel’s cozy ‘Cwtch’ area for some culinary reflection and merriment.

A huge thank you needs to be extended to the Angela Gray Cookery School, the very hospitable team at Llanerch Vineyard and of course, our wonderful clients who made the experience so fantastic.
